When Pain Becomes a Path to God’s Presence π₯
π “God Uses Brokenness to Draw You Closer”
π Pain Is Inevitable — But Your Response Is a Choice
Pain will come. That’s not optional.
But here’s the truth you need to face:
π You will either run to God or away from Him.
And if you’re honest—when you run away from God… where do you actually go?
- Distractions?
- People who can’t carry your burden?
- Temporary comfort that fades?
No one can meet you in your pain like God can.
π₯ Don’t Waste Your Pain — Use It
Pain has a purpose when surrendered to God.
Pentecostal faith doesn’t deny pain—it transforms it through the power of the Holy Spirit.
What the enemy intends for destruction, God uses for:
- Refinement
- Dependence
- Spiritual growth
- Deeper intimacy with Him
“The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
— Psalm 34:18 (ESV)
π Step 1: Be Honest with God (The Prayer of Lament)
Stop trying to sound “spiritual.”
God is not looking for polished words—He wants your real heart.
Cry out:
- “God, I don’t understand.”
- “I’m angry.”
- “This hurts.”
“Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us.”
— Psalm 62:8 (ESV)
π Step 2: Worship Through Every Phase of Pain
Grief isn’t one emotion—it’s a process.
And worship isn’t just singing—it’s surrender.
In every stage:
- π¨ Shock → “God, help me.”
- π Sorrow → “God, hold me.”
- π€ Struggle → “God, I still trust You.”
Worship is choosing God even when your feelings are unstable.
“Though he slay me, I will hope in him.”
— Job 13:15 (ESV)
π₯ Step 3: Surrender Control
Pain exposes something uncomfortable:
π You are not in control.
And that’s exactly where faith begins.
“Cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”
— 1 Peter 5:7 (ESV)
Breakthrough happens when you stop trying to fix everything and start trusting God with everything.
π± Step 4: Expect God to Use Your Pain
God never wastes suffering.
He uses it to:
- Shape your character
- Deepen your faith
- Prepare you to help others
“We rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope.”
— Romans 5:3–4 (ESV)
Your pain today can become someone else’s breakthrough tomorrow.
π‘ Reality Check
Let’s be direct:
If pain hasn’t drawn you closer to God, it’s probably pushing you somewhere else—and that place won’t heal you.
God is closest when you are most broken.
π§ Reflect & Apply
Take a moment and be honest:
- ❓ Who or what do you run to first when pain hits?
- π Are you feeding your pain with God’s Word or with fear?
- π Where have you already seen God bring good out of hardship?
π₯ Key Truths to Hold Onto
- Pain is not the end—it’s an invitation.
- God is not distant in suffering—He is present.
- Your weakness becomes the doorway to His power.
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
— 2 Corinthians 12:9 (ESV)
π Prayer
Heavenly Father,
I come to You honestly, without hiding anything.
You see my pain, my confusion, and my weakness.
Lord, I choose today not to run away—but to run to You.
Teach me to trust You when I don’t understand.
Give me strength through Your Holy Spirit to endure and to grow.
Use this pain for Your glory.
Shape my heart, deepen my faith, and draw me closer than ever before.
Remind me that You are near, that You care, and that You are working—even now.
I surrender everything into Your hands.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
