THE SHIELD OF FAITH: PROTECTION MONEY CAN’T BUY 🛡️

How to Stand Firm Against Doubt, Discouragement, Fear, and Spiritual Attack Through the Power of the Holy Spirit

“In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one.”
— Ephesians 6:16, ESV

🔥 As a follower of Jesus, you are engaged in a spiritual battle.

That does not mean we should live in fear of the devil. Quite the opposite. In Christ, we have victory, the authority of God’s Word, and the power of the Holy Spirit.

But Scripture calls us to stay alert and put on the full armor of God.

Paul writes:

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.”
— Ephesians 6:10–11, ESV

🛡️ One of the most important pieces of this spiritual armor is the shield of faith.

🔥 WHAT “FLAMING DARTS” ARE COMING AT YOU?

The enemy seeks to attack our minds, hearts, faith, and confidence in God.

These attacks can take many forms.

1️⃣ DOUBT — “Did God Really Say That?”

The enemy tries to make you question God’s character, His Word, and His promises.

“Will God really help me?”
“Does God actually hear me?”
“Maybe I misunderstood Scripture.”
“Why hasn’t God changed anything yet?”

⚔️ The response of faith:
Don’t build your life on what your circumstances are saying. Build your life on what God has said.

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”
— Hebrews 11:1, ESV

2️⃣ DISCOURAGEMENT — “You’ll Never Change”

Sometimes the attack sounds like this:

“You’ll never change.”
“Nothing is ever going to work out.”
“Why even try?”
“God can’t use you anymore.”

But God does not lead His children into hopelessness.

When discouragement comes, raise the shield of faith and remember God’s promises.

“I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”
— Philippians 4:13, ESV

🔥 Not because you are strong enough on your own, but because your strength comes from Christ.

3️⃣ DELAY — “Why Is This Taking So Long?”

⏳ This can be one of the hardest tests of faith.

You pray.
You wait.
You believe.
But the answer hasn’t come yet.

Then the thought comes:

“Maybe God isn’t listening.”

But delay does not mean God is absent.

God is working even when you cannot see what He is doing.

“For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.”
— Habakkuk 2:3, ESV

🙏 Faith knows how to wait without giving up on God.

4️⃣ DIFFICULTY — “Why Is This So Hard?”

Sometimes you look at your family, your work, your ministry, your relationships, or your circumstances and ask:

“Lord, why is this so difficult?”

Then comes the next question:

“Where are You?”

But faith says:

“God is with me even in the middle of the difficulty.”

Jesus never promised that following Him would be free from trials.

He said:

“In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
— John 16:33, ESV

🔥 Notice what Jesus did not say.

He did not say there would be no trouble.

He said:

“I have overcome the world.”

5️⃣ DESPAIR — “None of This Is Worth It”

Sometimes the most dangerous arrow is the thought:

“Give up.”
“Nothing can change.”
“There is no point in trying.”
“God has abandoned you.”

But your feelings are not the final authority over your life.

You may feel alone and still not be alone.

You may not see a way forward and yet God sees the way.

You may not understand God’s plan and still trust God’s character.

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:7, ESV

🛡️ YOU DON’T TAKE OFF THE SHIELD OF FAITH

Paul tells us to take up the shield of faith “in all circumstances.”

Notice the word “all.”

Not some attacks.

All the flaming darts.

🔥 Doubt? — Raise the shield of faith.
🔥 Discouragement? — Raise the shield of faith.
🔥 Fear? — Raise the shield of faith.
🔥 Waiting? — Raise the shield of faith.
🔥 Difficulty? — Raise the shield of faith.
🔥 The temptation to quit? — Raise the shield of faith.

Faith does not mean that problems suddenly disappear.

Faith means your problems no longer determine whom you will trust.

📖 FAITH MEANS TRUSTING GOD’S WORD

Today, many people live by the idea:

“If I feel it, it must be true.”

But Christian faith works differently.

We do not allow our feelings to become our lord.

Jesus Christ is Lord.

God’s Word is our foundation.

And the Holy Spirit is our strength.

“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”
— Romans 10:17, ESV

Therefore, when the attack comes, don’t simply argue with the negative thought—fill your mind with the truth of God’s Word.

⚔️ HOW DO YOU PRACTICALLY RAISE THE SHIELD OF FAITH?

🙏 1. PRAY WHEN THE ATTACK COMES

Don’t let an anxious thought talk to you for hours.

Talk to God instead.

Pray:

“Lord, I don’t understand what is happening, but I trust You.”

📖 2. ANSWER WITH GOD’S WORD

When Jesus was tempted by Satan, He answered:

“It is written…”

That is an example for us.

When the enemy says,
“You are alone,” remember God’s promises.

When he says,
“You can’t do this,” remember that your strength is in Christ.

When he says,
“God has abandoned you,” stand on God’s Word.

🔥 3. LET THE HOLY SPIRIT STRENGTHEN YOU

Pentecostal faith reminds us that the Christian life was never meant to be lived entirely in our own human strength.

God has given us the Holy Spirit.

Jesus said:

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses…”
— Acts 1:8, ESV

Ask the Lord to fill you with the Holy Spirit, strengthen your faith, and give you spiritual boldness and endurance.

Don’t try to fight a spiritual battle using only human strength.

👀 4. DON’T BUILD YOUR FAITH ON YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES

Circumstances change.

People change.

The economy changes.

Your emotions change.

But God does not change.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
— Hebrews 13:8, ESV

Therefore, your confidence should rest not on what you can see, but on the One you trust.

🛡️ “GOD SAID IT—AND THAT SETTLES IT”

There is an old saying:

“God said it, I believe it, that settles it.”

But there is an even deeper truth:

God said it—and that settles it, whether I believe it or not.

God’s truth does not become true because we believe it.

It is true because God is true.

Our faith does not create God’s truth.

Faith receives God’s truth and trusts Him.

“God is not man, that he should lie…”
— Numbers 23:19, ESV

🔥 So faith says:

“Lord, I don’t see the answer yet, but I trust You.”

“I don’t understand what is happening, but I believe Your Word.”

“My feelings may be changing, but Your truth never changes.”

🚪 DON’T GIVE THE ENEMY A FOOTHOLD

When we continually feed doubt, fear, and unbelief, we become spiritually vulnerable.

That is why Scripture says:

“And give no opportunity to the devil.”
— Ephesians 4:27, ESV

This does not mean that every difficult thought is automatically a demonic attack. But as Christians, we are called to recognize lies, reject them, and bring our thoughts under the authority of Christ.

“We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.”
— 2 Corinthians 10:5, ESV

🛡️ Don’t allow every thought to become your belief.

Test it against God’s Word.

🌿 FAITH IN ACTION

The shield of faith is not a passive symbol.

Faith acts.

Faith keeps praying.

Faith keeps forgiving.

Faith keeps serving.

Faith keeps moving forward.

Faith keeps worshiping even when circumstances have not changed yet.

Faith says:

“I will not give up because God is faithful.”

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.”
— Hebrews 10:23, ESV

🔥 That is spiritual endurance.

It is not the absence of battle.

It is refusing to abandon your trust in God in the middle of the battle.

💰 PROTECTION MONEY CAN’T BUY

You can buy a house.

You can buy insurance.

You can install a security system.

You can save money.

But you cannot purchase the spiritual protection that comes from God.

The shield of faith is not a physical object.

It is a living confidence in God, His character, His Word, and His promises.

When the flaming darts come your way:

🛡️ Trust God.
📖 Stand on His Word.
🙏 Pray in the Spirit.
🔥 Don’t give up.
👑 Keep your eyes on Jesus.

“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
— 2 Timothy 1:7, ESV

🙏 PRAYER: “LORD, STRENGTHEN MY FAITH”

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Jesus Christ and for the victory You have given me through Him.

Lord, help me stand in Your full armor and take up the shield of faith every day.

When doubt comes, remind me of Your truth.
When discouragement comes, strengthen my heart.
When answers seem delayed, teach me to wait on You.
When circumstances become difficult, help me not to retreat.
When fear and despair come, fill me with the power of the Holy Spirit.

🔥 I choose not to build my faith on my feelings.

📖 I choose to trust Your Word.

🛡️ I choose to believe Your promises.

🙏 I choose to keep praying.

Lord, give me spiritual discernment to recognize the lies of the enemy and reject them.

Help me take every thought captive and bring it into obedience to Christ.

Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and strengthen me inwardly.

Let my faith remain strong not only when everything is going well, but also when I walk through the fire of testing.

I believe You are faithful.

I believe Your Word is true.

I believe Jesus Christ has overcome.

And I will stand in faith.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen. 🙏🔥
