Choosing Faith Over Fear: Unlocking God’s Bold Future for Your Life ๐
“Peace be with you.”
That simple yet powerful declaration from the risen Jesus still echoes through the centuries — a divine invitation to trade our locked doors of fear for the open windows of faith.
The Disciples’ Locked Doors: A Mirror to Our Own Fears ๐
On that first Easter Sunday evening, the disciples huddled together behind locked doors because they were terrified of the Jewish leaders (John 20:19 ESV).
They had heard rumors of the resurrection, but fear kept them paralyzed.
Fear always limits you. It locks you out of the very doors God wants you to walk through.
Maybe you’re locking doors today:
- After a heartbreaking relationship, you swear you’ll never let anyone close again.
- After failing in a job or business, you avoid every new opportunity.
- After being hurt by church or believers, you distance yourself from God and His people.
Here’s the truth: You cannot protect yourself from all pain in a sin-broken world. Trying to do so only builds a prison of your own making.
The Miracle That Changes Everything ✨
Suddenly, Jesus appeared among them and said, “Peace be with you.” (John 20:19 ESV)
No knocking. No opening doors. Jesus stepped right into their fear-filled room.
That’s our God — the One who meets us in the middle of our greatest fears and speaks peace that surpasses understanding.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” (John 14:27 ESV)
Real Faith in the Face of Real Fear: Rick Muchow’s Story ๐
My friend Rick Muchow faced what many consider the ultimate fear — inoperable brain cancer.
Instead of surrendering to terror, Rick chose faith over fear every single day. When people ask how he combats the fear, he points to six powerful resources that every believer can draw from:
1. God’s Presence
Rick knows the Holy Spirit as a close, personal Friend — not a distant force. The same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you!
“The Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you…” (Romans 8:11 ESV)
2. A History of Watching God at Work
Rick has seen God move miraculously before — and he expects to see it again. Build your own faith history by remembering past victories.
3. The Promises of God in Scripture
Rick has written songs based on God’s Word for years. Now those promises strengthen him daily. Hide God’s Word in your heart!
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105 ESV)
4. More Worship in Difficult Seasons
When the battle rages, crank up the worship! Pentecostal believers know the power of praise breaks chains (Acts 16:25-26).
5. Leaning on Your Church Family
Don’t isolate. The Body of Christ is designed to carry one another’s burdens.
6. Trusting the Goodness of God’s Plan
Rick stands firmly on this promise:
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28 ESV)
What Will You Choose Tomorrow? ๐ฅ
If tomorrow brought the worst news — a terrifying diagnosis, sudden loss, or overwhelming trial — what would you do?
Would you lock yourself behind doors of fear?
Or would you throw open every door to the risen Jesus who says, “Peace be with you”?
True confidence doesn’t come from self-help books or positive thinking. It comes from knowing God personally through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Practical Steps to Choose Faith Over Fear Every Day ๐
- Start your day in God’s Presence — Pray in the Spirit and read His Word.
- Speak Scripture out loud over your fears (2 Timothy 1:7 ESV: “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”)
- Worship through the tears — Let anointed music fill your home and heart.
- Stay connected to your church — Share your burdens with Spirit-filled believers.
- Remember past testimonies — Journal how God has been faithful before.
- Declare God’s goodness — Even when you don’t feel it, faith declares what is true.
Bold declaration: Fear is a liar. Faith is your victory!

A Prayer to Choose Faith Over Fear ๐
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the resurrection power of Jesus Christ that shatters every chain of fear. Today I choose faith over fear. I open every locked door in my heart and invite the Holy Spirit to fill me afresh with Your perfect peace.
Lord, help me remember Your presence is closer than my fears. Strengthen me with Your promises, surround me with Your church family, and fill my mouth with worship and praise. I declare that You are working all things for my good according to Your purpose.
I receive the spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. No weapon formed against me will prosper because greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world.
In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen!
