It Is Finished: Walking Through the Door to True Freedom in Christ ๐✝️
Beloved friend, Jesus has risen—and with His resurrection, He declares victory over every chain that once held you captive. On the cross, He cried out, “It is finished!” (John 19:30), shattering the power of sin, death, and every prison door. Today, the risen King invites you to walk through Him—the Door—into abundant, Spirit-filled freedom.
“I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.” (John 10:9 ESV)
Just as God opened prison doors for Joseph (Psalm 105:20), the apostles (Acts 5:19-20), and Paul and Silas (Acts 16:26), He opens the way for you today through the power of the Holy Spirit.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives…” (Luke 4:18 ESV)
If you abide in His Word, you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free—and if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed (John 8:31-32, 36 ESV). Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom (2 Corinthians 3:17 ESV). You were called to freedom, brothers and sisters (Galatians 5:13 ESV)!
Why Do We Need This Freedom? ๐ฅ
Many believers live bound even after salvation—trapped by invisible chains. But Christian faith declares: The same Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you (Romans 8:11), empowering you to walk in victory right now. Let’s identify three common prisons and see how Christ sets us free.
1. Freedom from the Fear of Man and People-Pleasing ๐ฅ๐ ♂️
The fear of human opinion disables, but trusting in the Lord brings safety.
“The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.” (Proverbs 29:25 ESV)
We often perform for others, seeking approval that never satisfies. Jesus sees the heart:
“You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.” (Luke 16:15 ESV)
Practical step: Shift your focus to God’s Word alone.
“…and I shall walk in a wide place, for I have sought your precepts.” (Psalm 119:45 ESV)
When you care more about what the Lord says than what people think, you step into bold, Spirit-empowered living. No more shrinking back—walk freely in the fear of the Lord alone!
2. Freedom from Condemnation, Sin’s Cycle, and Unforgiveness ⚖️๐
“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8:1-2 ESV)
Some live with bitter hearts, carrying resentment that poisons their joy. Jesus warns:
“But if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” (Matthew 6:15 ESV)
Bold truth: Unforgiveness keeps you chained to the past, but the blood of Jesus breaks that cycle. Release others as He released you. Let the Holy Spirit fill the space bitterness once occupied—you are forgiven and free!
3. Freedom from Fear and Locked Doors ๐ฑ๐ช
On the first Easter, the disciples hid behind locked doors “for fear of the Jews.” Suddenly, the risen Jesus stood among them and said, “Peace be with you” (John 20:19 ESV)
Perfect love casts out fear:
“God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him… There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.” (1 John 4:16, 18 ESV)
Even when circumstances shake like an earthquake (Acts 16:26), the Spirit assures us:
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28 ESV)
The door is open to everyone who fears God and does what is right (Acts 10:35 ESV). No one is excluded—Pentecostal power is for all who hunger for the Holy Spirit!
How to Walk Through the Door Today ๐️
- Repent and Believe — Turn from every chain and trust fully in the finished work of the cross.
- Abide in the Word — Daily soak in Scripture; the truth will renew your mind.
- Invite the Holy Spirit — Ask Him to fill you afresh with power, just as on the Day of Pentecost.
- Forgive Quickly — Release others and receive God’s peace.
- Live Boldly — Step out in faith; the Spirit empowers you to share this “New Life” (Acts 5:20).
Jesus is the Door—not religion, not self-effort, not fear. Walk through Him and find pasture, freedom, and joy unspeakable!
A Prayer to Receive Freedom ๐
Heavenly Father, thank You that It Is Finished! I come through Jesus, the Door, and ask You to set me free by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Break every chain of fear of man, condemnation, unforgiveness, and tormenting anxiety. Fill me with Your perfect love that casts out fear. Help me abide in Your Word, walk in step with the Spirit, and live as one truly free.
I forgive those who have hurt me, just as You have forgiven me. Release Your Pentecostal fire in my life—empower me to share the Good News boldly.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, who rose from the dead and opens prison doors, Amen! ๐ฅ
